Day 1: Arrival

Wajolo wu! Welcome to Uganda. On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your personal driver/guide will be waiting for you outside arrivals. So just look out for DustTrack safaris. He will drive you to your Hotel in Kampala for the night.

Day 2: Shoebill Boating, Night game drive

After an early breakfast (06:30) you will be picked up by your private car and driver and transferred to Mabamba Swamp. Here in the morning is the best time to see the Shoebill and numerous aquatic birdlife while on a wooden Canoe ride. You will then drive to Lake Mburo National Park Lunch will be en-route. On arrival, check in and rest for later, you will go for a night game drive in the hope of spotting the nocturnal wildlife like the Bush Baby and elusive Leopard.

Day 3: Game walk, transfer to Bwindi National Park

Early in the morning, your driver will pick you up and drive to the Park for a morning Game walk, an activity that will take you through the grass lands accompanied by an armed ranger to view wildlife on foot. Return to have breakfast before checking out. Drive straight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. Rest up for tomorrow is Gorilla tracking day.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Ensure you have your breakfast by 7 am, have your lunch packed, dress up in a light long sleeved shirt, trousers, comfortable walking shoes, a light rain jacket. Also carry thick hand gloves, enough drinking water and a sun hat is optional. The tracking starts at 8am and could take anytime from 2 hours to a full day depending on the location of the Gorillas. After tracking, your driver will be waiting for you, for the drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a pristinely beautiful lake with its scenic numerous small Islands. You can go on a boat ride to visit the Islands including the punishment island.

Day 5: Kisiizi Falls tour, Hot springs visit, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start the day at 8am when you set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you will make a couple of stops including Kisiizi falls, a permanent monument of darker times in the culture of western Uganda when girls who got pregnant outside wedlock were thrown to their death. Take the guided hike up the falls as your guide narrates the tragic tale. Proceed to Kitagata Hot springs, considered a healing spring. Here you will encounter several people with different ailments soaking in the healing waters as believed by the locals. Finally, arrive at your accommodation for the night.

Day 6: Salt Lake tour, Flamingo search, Crater tour, Channel boating

Today, have your lunch packed for you will visit Lake Katwe where salt is mined for a community walk. Learn the techniques used by the salt miners, if lucky you will get the chance to see flamingos and other birds as you take a walk around the lake. You will also get the opportunity to descend inside the crater lake where you will experience a natural sauna. Break off for lunch then in the afternoon, go for the Boat ride on the Kazinga Channel, an opportunity to view wildlife as they come to drink by from the channel, ride up close to the Crocodiles and Hippopotamus as well as birdlife.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking, transfer to Fort Portal

Have your breakfast by 7 am this morning for once again, you will be heading out to visit the primates, this time in Kalinzu Forest just on the border of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check out of the hotel with lunch packed. Your driver will be ready for you. Tracking begins at 8am and takes normally between 2 to 3 hours. Remember to dress appropriately in comfortable walking shows. After tracking, drive through the scenic craters of Kasende all the way to the top of the world for a breathtaking appreciation of nature on your way to Fort Portal, a town tucked away in the shadows of Mountain Rwenzori. Here you will spend the night.

Day 8: Cave visit, transfer to Kampala

For last looks, visit the Mabere ga Nyinamwiru Caves, translated from the local Rutooro language as “the Breasts of Nyinamwiru.” Your onsite guide will tell you all about the local legend while also explaining the science behind the caves. Then off you go back to Kampala.

Day 9: Capital city tour, Departure

Take a tour of Uganda’s Capital city before departing to the airport.
