Mount Rwenzori National Park

Mountain Rwenzori also known as the Mountains of the Moon, is the tallest mountain in Uganda. It is located on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The highest peak of the Rwenzori; Margherita Peak, reaches 5,109 metres (16,762 ft), and the range’s upper regions are permanently snow-capped and glaciated. Mount Rwenzori is known for its vegetation, ranging from tropical rainforest, through alpine meadows to snow. The range supports its own species and varieties of giant groundsel and giant lobelia and even has a 6 metres (20 ft) tall heather covered in moss that lives on one of its peaks

A hike will take you through the Afro Montane forest with its tall trees teeming with a multitude of birdlife and primates like the blue monkeys scampering on top of branches. The hike that starts at 1,727 meters above sea level ends with the first leg at Sine Camp at 2,596 meters above sea level. The view from the camp is even more amazing with waterfalls, Lake Edward below, rapids, green vegetation, hanging vines and an interactive Camp fire in the evening. The next and final stop for hikers is a climb to Kalalama Camp for a magnificent view, then start the decent through the pristine forest with bright green lichens, Bamboo trees and Giant Heathers. This is a good opportunity to take some truly magnificent photographs of the beauty of undisturbed nature.
